Today is the first of 10 radiation treatments for Sally's brain.. Our treatment schedule changed from 3PM to 11:45AM, so we were not able to get to Wednesday Bible Study with these folks here in Baltimore.. Sally and I studied their study (John 8), this morning before we left for treatment.. It was encouraging to us to see that some of the same things that Our Father said to King David in our home study in II Samuel 7, continued to be the same things that he said through His Son in John 8.. We were glad for the message which never changes..
Sally approached treatment today with some anxiety... This is a big step, with the potential that some telling signs will exist with this treatment... Never-the-less, today went very smoothly... Actually, we received an encouraging phone call just before treatment began - - - The call was from Heather Bledsoe who had surgery here about 1 month ago.. She was back for a follow-up appointment in the Outpatient Center.. We had the opportunity of a little visit with Heather before she went for her appointment.... Great to see her coming along so well..
Two more treatments this week, then we plan to return home for the weekend.. My next update will probably be Saturday morning..

Thanks so much for the updates...we are checking up on you.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it something that the world is constantly seeking change, however we are comforted when we see that God's way never changes.
Keep your spirits up.

Dad says it's Saturday until he can next update this blog- so I'm safe to give you all a 'behind the scenes update.' Not sure Mom likes these- last time I wrote she was afraid to say anything next time I saw her. "You never know what will show up on a blog"
ReplyDeleteMonday the Pappy D, Isaak, Lukas, and I were up on the hill at mom and dad's- doing the manly chore of burning brush. Pap thought he lost his cell phone (it's an age thing- i have that problem too.) I called his phone to see if we could hear it ringing in the fire or on the ground- no luck, no answer. A few minutes later, Mom calls from the same phone- from the house. PHewww- phone is NOT in the fire, it's with mom on the couch. All's well.
Half an hour later- we 'men' are puttering around outside. Phone rings- it's mom, and it's an emergency. She says, "You better come now, there's Klondike bars in the freezer calling out our names- ."
So, to all of you that so graciously keep us encouraged- go ahead, take Memaw's lead and dive in- dessert waits for noone.
We had a great day with them both-
Tim, Isaak, Lukas

Hello all,
ReplyDeleteWe are glad for the messages and updates about Sally and especially about the "Ice Cream Screams" that occur.
Glad for the confidence we have that all we experience in life will create a foundation for our eternity with God. We get all we need: Food, comfort, and confidence in his word come to us when we need it. M/K/C/G -Carlisle Eakers
Eating plenty of milk and milk products is part of Sally's nutritional treatment.. Can't help that ice cream is one of those products!!! Anyway, I stocked up on more ice cream here in Baltimore...Dick
ReplyDeleteSo glad to be able to read about Sally's updates even when we're so far away! I talked to Heather today and she talked about her wonderful visit with you two. We here visit you often in our thoughts as that's the only way we can visit! I had a wonderful time with my sister and family. It was great to be there and help her out a bit. It wasn't the easiest thing to be an ocean apart during those long 7 hours... It was good to see for myself that she is recovering well. Ingrid and Lauren had SUCH a good time playing together. It was great to see! We all missed Gunnar being there, but suppose it will be that way sometimes. ...Although I'm not anxious to have full charge of a one year old by myself on a plane again anytime soon! haha! She was very good, just stressful in general to have that responsibility. We look forward to reading more updates now that we have your blog address. Take care and so good to hear that your spirit is up!

Thank you for posting the blogs, we think of Sally and the family daily and keep her in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteI remember Sally in the kitchen cooking all those great meals! It's good to hear the familiar humor in the "Klondike" emergency!

Great to keep up with your doings folks! What a great family we are in. Ephesians says it's part in heaven and part in earth. The blog reminds me...of that hymn 239 "from distant lands united." Even a little more "uniting" comes from reading the comments, from those we've known and loved.
ReplyDeleteWe wish you strength for the day.
Hearty greetings from the great white north! Dan H. in Maine
